Where to Next?

Photo Explorer Tours is dedicated to developing a program of custom tours, some scheduled and others with flexible dates, that provide efficient and economical access to some of the world's best photographic opportunities. Founded in 1981 as China Photo Workshop Tours by award-winning travel photographer and China specialist Dennis Cox, Photo Explorer Tours has expanded its tours program since 1996 to include a series of exciting new destinations around the world to complement our highly successful program of China tours. Working directly with carefully selected tour companies and photo tour guides at each destination who understand the special needs of photographers, we provide two programs of tours for your participation.

NEW TOUR! South INDIA Explorer, January 11-29, 2011. Led by Dennis Cox. Anticipated to be included are bull fighting at Madurai, Kathakali Dance, exploration of the Backwaters of Kerala aboard a House Boat, and the beaches of Goa. Watch for details and price coming soon. Group is limited to 16 participants. Only two spaces remain open.

NEW TOUR! In Search of Old CHINA South of the Yangtze, March 6-23, 2011, is the second of our "In Search of Old China" series of itineraries begun in 2007. The 18-day tour will begin in Hong Kong with a visit to "what's old in the New Territitories," before moving on to Guangdong's Leaning Towers of Kaiping (diaolous). It then heads north to Fujian's Gulangyu "island of pianos" at Xiamen, the Yongding Earth Houses (toulous) of the Hakka people, scenic mountain Wuyi Shan National Park, and The Bridges of Taishun County near Wenzhou. The itinerary ends in Old Shanghai. The tour, led by Dennis & Jialin Cox, is priced at $4895 for double occupancy ($1275 single supp) and includes all meals in China, group tips, and transportation by air, ferry, bus, and train. Group is limited to 16 participants.

NEW TOUR! Southern Africa Explorer: MOZAMBIQUE, VIC FALLS & BOTSWANA May 7-20, 2011.This unique new itinerary will be led by Dennis Cox. Included will be two of Botswana's finest safari camps in the Okavango Delta and at Linyati, Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe, and colorfully scenic Ibo Island on the Indian Ocean coast of Northen Mozambique. The tour is priced at $7995 for double accommodations. Group is limited to 12 participants.

OLD FAVORITE! Western TURKEY Explorer, September 4-18, 2011. The best of Western Turkey is a popular itinerary we have offered annually since 1978. This year we offer it in our new Special Tours for Special Photographers tours program, as well as here as a scheduled tour. Included are Istanbul, Cappadocia, Konya, Antalya, Pamukkale, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Pergamum, Assos, and Troy. Price for this tour is US$4195, sharing an air-conditioned double room (single room supplement is US$775). The land price will include all ground transportation in Turkey in a comfortable air-conditioned van, domestic flights, lodging, breakfast and dinner daily, all admission fees, and and the services of our outstanding English-speaking photo guide.

NEW TOUR! INDONESIA Explorer, tentatively late October, 2011. 16 day tour will include Jakarta, Bandung, Barutraden, Dieg, Borobudur, Jogyakarta, Bromo, Makassar, Tana Toraja, Ujungpandang, Denpasar, and Bali. Watch for dates and economical price to come.
